At least 39 people were arrested on prostitution-related charges during a four-day undercover operation in Indian River County, according to court and jail records. The operation began September 10 and involved the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and partner agencies. Court records describe investigators using online advertisements and undercover encounters as part of an anti-human-trafficking operation.

Flock Camera Investigation Continues at Indian River County Sheriff’s Office

Sgt. John Finnegan remains on paid administrative leave while the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office investigates possible misuse of the Flock Safety license plate reader system. Sheriff’s officials have said an agency-wide audit of the system was already underway before the issue involving Finnegan was brought to their attention.

Published reporting based on audit logs says Finnegan queried the same two license plates 574 times between March and October 2025. Finnegan has not been charged, and the Sheriff’s Office has not publicly concluded that the searches were improper.

Florida Amendment 3 Debate Intensifies Over Property Taxes and Public Safety

Florida’s proposed Amendment 3 would phase in a larger homestead exemption for non-school property taxes, increasing it to as much as $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028 for qualifying longtime Florida residents.
